Bismarck, ND - More children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than any other disease; however, childhood cancer research funding receives only 4% of U.S. federal funding for cancer research. That is why the St. Baldrick’s Foundation was organized.
Last year,
First Community Credit Union organized a team that participated and raised money for Bismarck’s annual St. Baldrick’s “Brave the Shave” event. Team First Community raised over $2,400, putting the team in 9
th place out of 24 teams. The Bismarck event alone raised over $200,000 in 2013!
This year, First Community CU is once again participating in the event with four team members returning from last year’s team, including Derrick Becker, Frank Friese, Chris Masse, and Chad Schmidt. The Bismarck “Brave the Shave” event will be held on March 14, 2014 at the YMCA located at 1608 N. Washington Street. The shaving begins at 1:30 p.m.
