CaptureOn June 19, 2014, the City of Tucson recognized all four eligible Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) branches and the corporate office as Certified Green Business facilities. TFCU believes that providing the community with infrastructure that uses sustainable practices is a progressive responsibility. Credit unions are committed to the guiding principle of “people helping people.” At TFCU, these standards in service extend to maintaining a positive, healthy, and clean community. The other three TFCU branches in Oro Valley, Marana, and Sahuarita use equally environmentally conscience practices, but because of their locations, were ineligible for the distinction.

Out of the 48 businesses that applied, enrolled, or received recognition in the Green Business Certification (GBC) program, TFCU leads the way with five certified locations. We are the only financial institution that accepted the GBC commitment. To receive this recognition TFCU installed Energy Star™ appliances, hand dryers, LED monitors, thermostat lock boxes, and smart irrigation controllers that gauge the climate and avoid water waste. In addition, TFCU’s groundskeepers are Smartscape™ certified through the University of Arizona. TFCU also uses updated lighting fixtures, low-flow toilets and faucets, occupancy sensor lighting, recycled consumables, and energy saving thresholds and weather stripping.
