Credit Union Chapter Awards $15,000 in Grants to Local Organizations
August 6, 2014

DETROIT, Mich. – The Metro West Chapter of Credit Unions recently announced grants totaling $15,000 awarded to eight Detroit area non-profits. Since 2005, the Metro West Chapter has awarded $145,000 to local organizations. Funds are raised through the Chapter’s annual golf outing.
Presentations will be made to representatives of this year’s top three award recipients of $2,500 each at the Chapter’s Annual Charity Golf Outing. These include PBJ Outreach, Fish & Loaves, and Center for Creative Arts. The event will be held at the Northville Hills Golf Club on Thursday, August 14, 2014.
Awarded grants of $1,500 each are Redford Interfaith Relief, EcoWorks, Matrix Theatre Company, Detroit Police Athletic League, Inc. (PAL) and Ruth Ellis Center.
“Our committee reviewed a number of grant requests submitted this year before selecting these award recipients,” said Carrie Williams, strategic liaison and project manager for the University of Michigan Credit Union and Metro West Chapter charity grants committee chair. “The selection is not easy, because there are many deserving organizations that are helping people in need in a variety of ways throughout Wayne and Washtenaw counties. We are glad to assist.”
The Metro West Chapter of Credit Unions is a chapter of the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL). The Chapter will begin accepting grant proposals for next year in May 2015.
