CaptureST. PETER, Minn. – Arbor Day was celebrated on April 24 this year. The goal of this project is to help revitalize the observation of Arbor Day in America’s schools. Fourth graders at about a dozen schools, including St. Peter Elementary and St. Peter Catholic, received over 600 tree seedlings to take home and plant from SouthPoint Federal Credit Union. “This is a wonderful project to get young people aware of our environment so they can begin to do their part to help preserve our planet,” said Troy Diedrich of the credit union. SouthPoint started giving tree seedlings to area fourth graders in 2011. Each fourth grader received an individually packaged 12- to 18-inch black spruce seedling.
