LOWELL, MA – Through community support and simple clicks of a mouse, Zack’s Team Foundation is the latest winner of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s Give-A-Click campaign. Zack’s Team is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing attention to the common misconceptions of substance abuse by providing knowledge, hope and funds to people and their families impacted by the wide-spread disease.
The Give-A-Click campaign runs every quarter on the Credit Union’s foundation website,
WeShareACommonThread.org. During the campaign, community members visit the site to read about worthy non-profit organizations and cast a vote for the one they would like to support. The charity with the most votes is awarded a $1,500 donation from the Credit Union. New charities are posted every quarter, and people of the community, Jeanne D’Arc members, employees and the organizations’ supporters are encouraged to keep returning to
WeShareACommonThread.org to help their favorite nonprofits gain a much-needed donation.
“Donations like this is how we survive,” said Michael Gys, Vice President of Zack’s Team Foundation. “This donation is going to send two people to treatment at The Plymouth House,” he added.
The Foundation works to dismiss the shame and stigma associated with substance abuse, a mission in honor of Mr. Gys’ son, Zachary Gys, who lost his battle with addiction in 2013, at the age of 21.
“We understand the value of community and working together. Giving back and helping others is an essential part of our mission,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. “The ‘Give a Click’ campaign allows the people in our region to play a bigger role in helping their communities and each other. We are honored to help Zack’s Team Foundation continue its important work.”
Zack’s Team is the last winner of the 2015 campaign, which proved to be a very close race between Zack’s Team, One Tail at a Time Rescue and Helping Hand Veterans Fund.
Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union kicked off the contest for the first quarter of 2016 with the organizations American Cancer Aid and The Megan House Foundation vying for the next donation.
