SANTA FE, New Mexico, September 20, 2016—Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU), Northern New Mexico’s hometown financial cooperative, supports many worthy causes in New Mexico and takes its self-directed value statement “improving lives” to heart. From September 26 to October 31 DNCU’s Second Annual Toasty Coats for Tots and Teens, a coat drive to benefit SFPS Adelante, a critical program that provides services for children who are experiencing homelessness in Santa Fe, will take place in the three Santa Fe DNCU branches: 3286 Cerrillos Rd., 403 West Cordova Rd., and 510 North Guadalupe. “The response from our members and staff last year was heartwarming, and we anticipate a healthy reaction again on behalf of this worthy cause. A warm winter coat is a necessity and every child, especially those living with difficult circumstances, deserves one.” says DNCU CEO/President Chuck Valenti. DNCU is asking staff, members, and guests to please donate new or gently used winter coats during this time to help. Requested coat sizes: children’s 5-18 and teens S-L. According to SFPS Adelante, more than 1,700 children and teens find themselves involved in a homeless situation in Santa Fe County. “Children and youth from SFPS Adelante Program are so appreciative when they know that someone in their community cares enough to donate a nice coat for the winter weather. Their eyes light up when they see their new colorful, warm jacket!" says Gaile Herling, program coordination, SFPS Adelante.
