(Somerville, MA) Naveo Credit Union is sponsoring the
5th Annual Joe Chaves 5K Memorial Walk/Run on
Sept. 25 in Cambridge and Charlestown. Naveo has been a sponsor of the walk since its inception. Funds raised by the Walk help to support scholarships and community programs for the Portuguese-American community in Greater Boston.
The event is organized by the
Joe & Dorothy Chaves Foundation (www.chavesfoundation.org), which advocates on behalf of immigrants and their families in the Greater Boston area. The Chaves Foundation provides financial support for important educational and advocacy programs that serve immigrants seeking to learn new skills and earn their U.S. citizenship. The Annual Joe Chaves Walk/Run is a fun event that brings local communities together. It was created in honor of the late José A. Chaves, a well-loved educator, Portuguese-speaking community leader, and former director of CPCU Credit Union, now Naveo Credit Union. Chaves contributed his leadership and knowledge to the CU and through these contributions forever changed its strategic direction.
“Our fifth annual 5K event represents a key milestone for the Joe & Dorothy Chaves Foundation.” said Philip and Mark Chaves, sons of José Chaves. “Through this event, we celebrate the continued generosity of our volunteers, donors, and sponsors, while also shining a light on the important role that advocacy groups play in our Portuguese-speaking community.”

Domingos, Chief Executive Officer at Naveo.
