First Community Credit Union in Jamestown, ND held their first Shred Event on a brisk fall day.   The credit union partnered with the Better Business Bureau and a document destruction company for this great event to help fight identity theft.  They invited all residents to shred unneeded documents of any personal, medical, or business nature, at the branch parking lot via a mobile shredding unit. The community also had the opportunity to recycle old cellphones through the “Cellphones for soldiers program" where AT & T reprograms and ship them overseas to military at no cost. In the 5 hour long shred event, they had 55 people attend, 1240 lbs of paper shredded and 43 cell phones collected.  For the first event, the credit union considered it a great success and look forward to growing it in years to come!
