SHAKOPEE, Minn. – South Metro Federal Credit Union (SMFCU) has opened its new branch office this month at the Southbridge Crossings shopping center in Shakopee with the facility featuring the latest financial banking technology and amenities including a nine-screen interactive video wall.

The 5,600-square foot branch office is located at 8001 Old Carriage Court (i.e. southwest of the intersection of Highways 169 and Hwy 21).

“We are proud to bring our commitment to the community and the members we serve into the Southbridge area,” says B. Don Crofut, president of SMFCU, a key provider of financial products and services in the southwestern Twin Cities. “We’ve always been engrained in our community and our members’ needs. The expansion into this new location is an extension of those values.”

SMFCU has been a leader in integrating the latest financial technology to benefit customer education, security and access via online and mobile. “Our new branch office in Southbridge is really an opportunity to open our doors to the larger southwestern Twin Cities’ community and highlight our innovative spin on what a credit union can and should be,” Crofut adds.

The new branch location will showcase SMFCU’s products and services with a nine-screen interactive video wall, visible to passing motorists and available to serve branch office visitors. SMFCU will use this wall and other online and mobile applications to roll out new services and access points throughout 2015 for its more than 3,700 members, who span multiple generations.

Over the last several years, credit unions as financial institutions have grown in their breadth of offerings amidst changing and rising consumer expectations.

“Our members look to us as their trusted advisor and resource for all of their financial needs,” Crofut says. SMFCU prides itself on knowing its members. “We greet our members personally and have the training and knowledge on staff to provide more in-depth education and tools for helping our members learn and grow as their financial objectives change.”

SMFCU plans to hold a grand opening celebration July 8-11, 2015 for its new branch office.  The festivities include a Wednesday, July 8 event for invited community leaders and stakeholders and July 9-11 ongoing celebrations for members and the public with free ice cream, light refreshments and opportunities to test out the interactive wall.  For more information, go to www.southmet.com.
