bangorBangor Federal Credit Union (Bangor, Maine) has published a new cookbook to benefit the Campaign for Ending Hunger in Maine.  Copies of the Maine Family Favorites Cookbook are now available and can be purchased at any Bangor Federal branch or drive-through location. In 1990, the Maine Credit Union League established the Campaign for Ending Hunger in Maine.  Since that time, Maine’s credit unions have raised and distributed more than $4.3 million for this worthy cause.  Each year, Bangor Federal Credit Union has participated in that collective effort.  In 2012 alone, the Credit Union raised a total of $14,317 for the Campaign.  Later this spring, 100% of those funds will be distributed to food cupboards and shelters in Bangor Federal’s field of membership, Penobscot County.

Members of Bangor Federal’s Fundraising and Activities Committee spearheaded the creative effort and were involved in every aspect of the cookbook’s development.  FAC members chose to incorporate some interesting features to help make this cookbook a treasure for years to come.  For example, one unique aspect of this cookbook is that many contributors honored family members or friends or mentioned who had originally shared a particular recipe with them.  The cookbooks are in a 3-ring binder format and contain a built-in bookstand, lots of cooking hints and tips, and some interesting food facts among the recipes.

The cookbook contains a nice variety of recipes shared by the Credit Union’s employees and members. A total of 259 recipes from approximately 70 different contributors were included in the cookbook

Copies of the cookbook can be purchased at either one of Bangor Federal’s branch offices (339 Hogan Road in Bangor or 6 Dirigo Drive in Brewer) or at the Credit Union’s drive-through location (601 Hammond Street in Bangor). The cookbooks are being sold for $19.95 each. All proceeds from sales of Bangor Federal’s Maine Family Favorites Cookbook will benefit the 2013 Campaign for Ending Hunger in Maine.
