MAPLE GROVE, MINN.
— TopLine Federal Credit Union is celebrating the success of its round-up savings transfer program, Sum-It-Up SavingsTM. In the first two years of the program, over 1,000 TopLine Federal Credit Union members cumulatively saved nearly $250,000 in their personal savings accounts.
Each time TopLine members who enroll in the transfer program make a purchase or ATM transaction with their TopLine Check Card, the total is automatically rounded up to the nearest whole dollar — and the difference is transferred into their savings account. TopLine’s members add slowly and steadily to their savings, just by doing what they’re doing every day — using the debit card tied to their TopLine checking account to pay for groceries, gas and other purchases.
TopLine member Jordan Parks signed up for Sum-It-Up Savings in 2011. “I signed up because the program was innovative, and I was getting ready to save to buy my first house,” says Parks. “All I had to do was use my TopLine debit card — it was so easy. In fact, I just bought my house this spring, and my Sum-It-Up Savings account played a role in making my down payment.”
Carter, TopLine president and CEO. “It’s been inspirational to see members saving money for many things — that first home down payment, building back up emergency reserves, growing a vacation fund, or creating a child’s first savings account.”
