Rockland Federal Credit Union is giving back to the community with a donation  of $50,000 to the new Senior Center Capital Campaign.
“Rockland Federal Credit Union believes in giving back to the communities it  serves,” said Thomas C. White, president and chief executive officer. “We  believe that the Rockland Senior Center will provide a much needed resource for  adults in our community and we are gratified to be a part of this effort. “One of the main reasons the development of the Senior Center has been  special from the beginning is the people who want to be involved,” White said. “There are many kind and unselfish people who share their time and energy to  help make a positive impact in Rockland and around the region. With support from  Rockland Federal Credit Union, our corporate partners and volunteers, we are  grateful for the positive effect we are able to have on Rockland-area  organizations and nonprofits.” The $50,000 donation has been designated for the cafeteria, including the  kitchen and cafeteria furniture. John Rogers, spokesman for the Senior Center Capital Campaign Fund,  expressed his appreciation. “As a credit union member and former director, and  long time resident of Rockland, I am absolutely thrilled that the credit union I  have been close to all these years has stepped up to the plate with such a  generous gift. This donation from Rockland Federal Credit Union will enable us  to provide many extra things for our seniors that were not in our budget.” Rockland Senior Center is expected to open by June 2014 and will include  meeting and conference rooms, fitness area, crafts/games room, cafeteria with  kitchen, living room, on site nurse and outreach services. The Senior Capital  Campaign is still accepting donations to help fund the $3.5 million project. To  learn more about the Senior Center, call Rickie Moriarty at  781-878-8338.
